You drive, we handle the details. That’s our motto, so here are the details you’ll need to ensure you have the most enjoyable tour possible. We’ll do our best to keep your car running on our tour, but as the old saying goes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Please arrive at our tour with a finished, sorted, running car. Our roadside assistance isn't designed to finish your project—it’s designed for emergencies.

What you can do before the tour:

  1. Drive your vehicle before the tour begins to ensure it’s ready for its big trip.

  2. Bring extra fluids for your car, as it’s common for old cars to use oil during long drives.

  3. Bring common spares for your car—parts like a spare tire, ignition components, fuel pump and filter, belts and fuses are the most common failure points.

  4. Bring any repair documentation you have, like factory service manuals or the instructions for that modified wiring harness you’ve installed.

  5. Bring any specialty tools your car may need.

What you can do during the tour:

  1. Start each day by checking your car’s fluids and tires; we’d much rather top up oil in the morning than deal with a seized engine in the afternoon.

  2. Stay on the tour route—our sweep vehicle will always follow the official route.

  3. Exercise as much mechanical sympathy as possible when driving—remember that your classic car won't tolerate as much abuse as modern machinery.

  4. If you do experience a problem, stop driving and let us know as soon as possible so we can help. We’ll always remember the Ferrari that drove 20 miles without any oil because the light didn’t seem too urgent….

What we can do during the tour:

On each tour, we provide a chase car driven by an experienced mechanic carrying basic tools, fuses, and bulbs. Their job isn’t to make your car perfect—it’s to triage emergency mechanical situations and get you back on the road as quickly as possible. If they determine your car can’t be fixed roadside, they’ll call a tow truck to bring the car back to our host hotel or to a repair shop of your choice within 50 miles. You can then either ride in the tow truck with your car, or ride in the chase car to continue on the tour.

Our staff’s labor is completely free for the duration of the tour, but tips are always appreciated. Any parts or third-party repair costs are the tour participant’s responsibility.

If you break down:

  1. If you are in imminent danger, were involved in a serious accident, or are having a medical crisis, call 911 immediately and follow their instructions. 

  2. If possible, move your vehicle into the safest area available. Raise your hood and leave it open, then turn on your hazards (if equipped). These steps make you easier to find. If you’re close to traffic or feel unsafe, exit your vehicle and wait as far from traffic as reasonably possible.

  3. Call or text our sweep driver and tell them where on the route you’ve stopped. Though they’ll stop automatically for any disabled tour vehicles, calling ensures he doesn’t miss you.

  4. Once our sweep vehicle arrives, you may either wait inside it or assist our mechanic with the diagnosis and repair of your vehicle. 

  5. Our mechanic may ask for your assistance during the diagnosis/repair/towing process. Only assist if you’re physically able and feel safe doing so. Our mechanic’s most common request is for model-specific spare parts or technical advice, as our sweep vehicle only carries the basics and our mechanics are not marque specialists.
